Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports

Hello Families of Callaway,
Our school is pleased to announce that we are now a PBIS school!

What is PBIS?

Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is a proactive approach to establishing the behavioral supports and social culture and needed for all students in a school to achieve social, emotional and academic success.

Our Goals:

  1. Improve social and emotional competence
  2. Reduce problem behaviors
  3. Increase academic performance
  4. Reduce staff turnover

Student Incentives

Gotcha Bucks
Gotcha Bucks can be passed out to any student demonstrating one of the 4 B’s of our school.
Students can also use Gotcha Bucks to attend parties, school dances, school movies, etc. The PBIS team will keep staff posted on these special events!

Starball Jars
Classes earn Starballs by receiving compliments from any faculty or staff member.
Compliments from Dr. Barbra, Mrs. Starks or a substitute earn 2 Starballs!
Classes filling their Star Jars will receive a class party and a banner to hang on the room door for a week. Party options include:

~Popcorn and movie
~Game Time
~Ice Cream
~Outside Time
~Pajama Day
~Teddy Bear Day
~Silly Hat Day
~Slipper Day
Student of the Month
Teachers will nominate a Student of the Month. This is a child who has consistently followed the 4 B’s around school and in the classroom. Students of the Month will have their picture displayed near the front hallway of Callaway.

Teacher Incentives

The PBIS team will post a bulletin board and sticky notes placed near the sign in counter.
All faculty and staff members are encouraged to place sticky notes on the board highlighting anything you see a colleague doing well.
We want to encourage and support each other this school year and all the years to come!
